I'm passionate about public health and community outreach.
A day dedicated to treating over 300 children in need. I was blessed to be part of the committe in planning and orchestrating the event for 2013 and 2014.
Education for the foster children living in the Sunshine Acres Children's Home.
I was able to participate in rotations with the Special Needs Clinic at Arizona School of Dentistry and Oral Health, as well as participate in A Day for Special Smiles, which provided me with insight and skills working with children and adults with physical and intellectual disabilities. This experience has helped me become more comfortable in approaching treatment for those who cannot tolerate the typical appointment length or treatment.
Teach One. Show One. I organized this event at which oral hygiene and nutrition were taught to 6th graders, and they then taught 1st graders with our supervision.
Providing free hygiene services to underprivileged children in conjunction with Dignity Health.
Free screenings on Mesa Community College campus.
East Valley Men's Center Screenings and hygiene services for the men currently staying at this remarkable homeless shelter.
Partnering with Dignity Health, I was able to visit preschools and daycares to provide oral hygiene and nutrition education, the Early Childhood Caries (ECC) Basic Screening Survey (BSS), as well as fluoride varnish application for children ages newborn to 5 years.
Fundraising and promoting awareness in the community.
Chandler-Gilbert Community College invited us to share our knowledge and skills in tobacco cessation.
Three full days in the bateys. We treated 100 patients each day! This was a truly humbling and life-changing opportunity.
